Bradley Mayhew is the co-author of the Odyssey guide to Uzbekistan. He has also contributed to Odyssey title Silk Road: Merchants, Monks and Warriors.
Bradley has been writing guidebooks for 20 years. He has written dozens of Lonely Planet guidebooks, including guides to Tibet, Central Asia, Nepal, Bhutan, China, India, Mongolia, Jordan and Pakistan. He also wrote first editions of LP guides to Shanghai and Southwest China.
He is currently based in Yellowstone County, Montana, and is the co-author of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks and Trips: Pacific Northwest.
In his spare time he has travelled through Ethiopia and Laos, trekked in Zanskar, horse trekked in the Tibetan areas of Western Sichuan and once even went on holiday (to Colombia). A big trekker, Bradley has trekked across large parts of Nepal as part of research for two editions of Trekking in the Nepal Himalaya.
In recent years he's been seen on European television, notably filmed making an overland trip in the footsteps of Marco Polo travelling from Venice to Beijing via Jerusalem, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and Western China. His most recent film project is the ten-part series Wanderlust, which presents ten long-distance hiking trails across micro-regions of Europe. The first five films premiere on Arte in August 2014, with five more in 2015.
Bradley has had photographs published in many outlets. He has lectured to the Royal Geographical Society and occasionally leads lecture tours to Central Asia.
